The Chronicle of Gardens of Wei,Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties

魏晋南北朝时期是中国古典园林史上第一个转折期。这一阶段,社会的动荡和政治的分裂并未禁锢人们的思想,造园活动在帝王至贵族这一特定人群中普遍活跃,园林的发展相当繁荣,并最终形成皇家、私家、寺观园林三大主流类型共同进步的局面。借鉴传统的园林分类观点,以皇家、私家、寺观三大类型为主,对魏晋南北朝时期园林进行系统梳理,重在文献资料的征引,同时配以考古发现,以期向读者翔实地展示该时期的园林建筑。

The period of Wei, Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties is the first transition time in the history of Chinese classical gardens. In that time, the thoughts of people were not confined by social turbulence and political split, and gardening activities became more dynamic in emperors and nobles, the specific group. The development of gardens was very prosperous, and finally it forms the aspect that three bJg mainstream types, whJch were the royal, the private and the monastic gardens, progressed together. This article is a systematic summary of classical gardens in Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties. The concept of traditional classifying methods is used for reference in this paper, and focuses are put on the royal, the private and the monastic gardens. Citing plenty of documents is also emphasized, accompanied by findings in archeology, in order to present the readers details of gardens in those periods.
