This paper is to make a comparative analysis of the two writing styles for the beginning and the ending of A Portrait of a Young Artist . As for the linguistic features of the novel, the paper is to explain the theme of growing up for the main characters , to study the author＇ s writing techniques and his aesthetic thought which may be as a new perspective of analyzing and appreciating the literary works.
