A Brief Introduction to the History of Chinese Operational Hydrology

概述了中国水文事业从有史以来至１９９０年的发展历程，以水利部门的水文工作为主，兼及其他部门有关水文工作状况。将历史划分为古老文明、外来影响、迅速发展、曲折前进、改革开放等五个时期叙述，而重点放在新中国成立后的三个时期。

This paper briefs the history of Chinese operational hydrology up to 1990.It mainly concerns the hydrological work in water resources section,and also includes relative work in other sections.The history is divided into five periods to be described,i.e.before 1840(ancient culture),1840-1949(introduction of foreign technique),1949-1957(rapid development),1958-1978(undulant development)and 1979-1990(advance following reform and open policy).The later periods after 1949 are emphasized.
