PetroChina appointed Zhou Jiping president and vicechairman of the company in mid-May, elevating him from the post of executive director. Chairman Jiang Jiemin relinquishes the president＇s post to Zhou but remains chairman. The position of CNPC president and president of listed PetroChina are in practice held by separate persons. The vice president of CNPC usually serves as president of PetroChina at the same time. Zhou has 35 years experience in oil and gas exploration and helps lead overseas projects for the group. Meanwhile, Zhao Zhengzhang, formerly general manager of PetroChina＇s Exploration and Production Company, was appointed vice president of the company.
