From the escalators of open-air setting caused step chains unusual to elongate, handrails to crack, rollers of step chains quickly to damage and bearings of main driving shaft and step chain tensioning device bearings to fail and so on, this paper introduces a special design for outdoor escalator, the design effect in the open-air condition, influence of the environmental quality and riding cost of the open-air escalator.
