The Past and Present of the Water City to the North of the Yangtze River

在鲁西平原的运河岸边，有一座有着悠久历史和灿烂文化的古城——聊城。早在6000多年前，这里的人们不仅有了原始农业，会制作陶器，而且已经掌握了夯筑城墙的技术。到5000年前左右大汶口文化时期的中晚期，人文始祖炎帝、黄帝、蚩尤，都曾在这片土地上有过频繁的活动。

By the Grand Canal in the plain region of West Shandong, there stands an ancient city-- Liaocheng, which boasts a time-honored history.More than 6,000 years ago, people residing here had not only started to engage in primitive agriculture, but also learnt how to make pottery wares. Moreover, they had already grasped the technology to build city walls.
