With the help of local scholar Qu Taisu, he wore confucian clothes with long hair, preached as a academy which made a smooth spread of his religion. For the six years Matteo Rieei based in Shaozhou, the preaching had made some progress, but also a number of disputes (religion event). In 1595, in virtue of Shaozhou, he went to Jiangxi, and then Nanehang, Nanjing and Beijing for a further development.
