This paper deals with the impact of tourism development on city culture sustainment. Based on an analysis of the relationship between culture and city, the paper analyzes the negative effect of city development on culture,and proposes an effective measure to boost tourism with a view to promoting city culture sustainment. It is pointed out in the paper that the development of tourism can not only flourish the city itself and raise the citizens＇cultural quality, but also inherit a city＇s traditional folk culture and bring about a new city culture, which is really a very beneficial strategy for city development.
