“六书”次第考略

On Order of the Six Categories of Chinese Characters

探讨了"六书"中的次第问题。认为"象形"应置于"指事"之前,"假借"应置于"形声"之前,"会意"也应置于"形声"之前。所以,除了"转注"的"五书"的次第应为:象形、指事、会意、假借、形声。

The order problem of five categories in ＂six categories of Chinese characters＂ is discusged. It is pointed out that, the pictographic should be placed before the self-explanatory character, the phonetic loan should be placed before the pictophonetic character, and the ideographic should be also placed before the pictophonetic character. Therefore, except the note character, the order of five categories should be the pictographic, self-explanatory, ideographic, phonetic loan, and pictophonetic.
