A new spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace nitrite is studied.The method is based on the nitrosation reaction of vitora blue B with nitrite in diluted hydrochloric acid. me linear range for determination is 0.2-30μg NO2-/25mL.The apparent molar absorptivity is 1.02×104 L/(mol·cm). The method has been used to the determination of trace nitrite in water.
