当今计算机技术和空间技术飞速发展，其结果使得一些相近学科走向了综合。我国对遥感（ＲＳ）、地理信息系统（ＧＩＳ）、全球定位系统（ＧＰＳ）和专家系统（ＥＳ）的研究日渐成熟，对它们集成的要求变得越来越迫切，有关这种集成系统的开发和应用日趋成为诸多与之有关学科发展的重中之重。不同专业的科研人员纷纷加入这个行列，发表各自的见解，探索集成的必要性和结合方式。ＲＳ、ＧＩＳ、ＧＰＳ和ＥＳ这四大现代技术各有其技术特点、研究方向及应用领域；４Ｓ技术间有不同的结合方式；４Ｓ技术的一体化将成为快速而实时的空间信息分析和决策支持工具；４Ｓ技术终将走向完美结合。

With the development of technologies of computer and space,many adjacent academic areas will be incorprated.The research of RS,GIS,GPS and ES have already made a great progress in China.The integration of them is necessary.The development and application of the integration is the emphasis of many related fields.Researchers with different academic background all focus on the integration,putting forth their issues,probing the necessity and the mode of the integration of 4S.There are several types of combination mode in the technology and application of 4S.The integration of RS、GIS、GPS and ES will become an important tool for rapidly analyzing the spatical information,and 4S technologies will be perfectly integrated in the future.[
