This paper introduces a multi--purpose unloading buffer device that is commonly used with the type SSJ1400/4X400 belt conveyor for use in tailgates. The use of this device not only eliminates the problem of coal accumulation in front of the spillplate, but also adds pushing and pulling functions to the spillplate, which have been fully proved in many a time actual use in Xinglongzhuang Coal Mine.
