摘要
本研究关注中国英语学习者在英语议论文写作中使用连词和连接副词的情况,研究基于"中国学生英语口笔语语料库"(SWECCL)和研究者自己建立的一个小型英语母语者参照语料库。参考Halliday&Hasan(1976)对连接副词的分类和Crystal(1996)对连词的描述,研究者把研究对象确定为and-moreover(并列关系),but-however(转折关系),和so-therefore(因果关系)三组连接词。比较不同水平的学习者之间以及和母语者之间使用连接词的语境的差异。通过分析数据,研究者发现了中国英语学习者使用连词和连接副词的一些特点和问题,并且有针对性地提出了一些建议。
This article deals with a study which set out to investigate the choice between conjunctions and conjunctive adjuncts of Chinese EFL learners in English argumentative essay writing. The study was conducted through investigating the Spoken and Written English Corpus of Chinese Learners (SWEC- CL), a learner language corpus and a small-sized comparable corpus of native-speaker texts compiled by the researcher. Adopting Halliday and Hasan (1976)'s division of conjunctive adjuncts and Crystal (1996)'s account of conjunctions, the researcher focused the study on and-moreover (additive), but-how- ever (adversative), and so-therefore (causal) to compare the contexts of conjunctions and conjunctive adjuncts used by the Chinese EFL learners and the English native speakers." The data analysis revealed some different patterns of conjunctions and conjunctive adjuncts showed by the Chinese EFL learners and the native speakers as well as some problems the Chinese EFL learners have in using conjunctions and conjunctive adjuncts.
