因袭、模仿、乃至抄袭,是隋唐系列小说存在的客观问题。但整体考察隋唐系列小说,不难发现隋唐系列小说并非仅是重复、雷同之作,其类型、情节内容、思想观念均处于不断演变、丰富、发展之中:从历史演义、英雄传奇发展到武侠小说;故事情节逐渐完整,人物形象逐渐定型;思想观念也愈趋进步。其作为整体的意义不容低估。
