“如三秋兮”之“秋”当训“季(季度)”

"Qiu(秋)" Should be Translated into "Quarter" in Caige of The Book of Songs(《诗经·采葛》)

历年来人们多把《采葛》中"如三秋兮"之"秋"与成语"一日三秋"之"秋"等同,皆训为"年",如此则"如三秋兮"与下文"如三岁兮"语意重复,与全文的层递结构相矛盾,当属误训。而或揣度孔颖达所作之疏而训"秋"为"季",句意虽通,却只是单纯从义理出发,知其然而不知其所以然,有理据不足之嫌。今试从上下文语境、结构特点及古今用例等方面对此"秋"训"季"进行考证。

Many people have been taken the ＂year＂ as the meaning of the ＂Qiu （秋）＂ in the poetry of Caige （《采葛》） over the years. But this explanation is wrong. There are still some people who think that ＂qiu （秋）＂ was translated ＂quarter＂ in KongYingda＇s Shu （蔬）, but their reasons are not enough. This paper researches whether ＂autumn＂ should be translated into ＂quarter＂ from their contexts, structural characteristics and giving example.
