取向膜表面方位锚定强度对铁电液晶分子排列的影响

Effect of Surface Azimuthal Anchoring Strength Energy of Alignment Layer on the Molecular Alignment of Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

摘要 计算分析铁电液晶C1和C2排列态的自由能.在取向膜预倾角较低的条件下,当取向膜表面方位锚定强度大于临界值2.1×10-6J/m2时,C2排列态的自由能低于C1排列态,可实现均匀的C2排列态,并进行实验证明.采用摩擦取向方法,制作出了均匀取向的表面稳定模式器件. In this paper the free energy of ferroelectric liquid crystal alignment at Cland C2 state is calculated and analyzed. Under lower pretilt angle conditions, we find that the free energy of C2 state is lower than that of C1 state when the surface azimuthal anchoring energy of the alignment layer is larger than the critical value 2.2 ×10^-6J/m2. So the defect-free uniform alignment can be achieved by controling the azimuthal anchoring energy. And the result is proved by the preparation experiments of surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal cell fabricated by rubbing alignment technique.
