"The Literature of Silence":The Precursor of Postmodernism

美国后现代文学批评家伊哈布·哈桑对后现代主义的研究是从先锋派文学开始的,他认为先锋派是后现代主义这个交响乐中必不可少的前奏。他从古希腊俄耳甫斯的神话中揭示出20世纪最有价值的文学是"沉默的文学",是那些毁灭与创造并进的先锋派文学,而它们是后现代主义的先行者。

Ihab Hassan is a well-known literary critic and one of the earliest postmodern scholars. As a literary critic, Hassan inquires Postmodernism in terms of literary phenomena. He is interested in Western Avant-garde literature and considers Avant-garde as the precursor of Postmodernism. Recalling the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus,Hassan points out that＂the literature of silence＂ is the Avant-garde literature of destruction and creation,the most valuable literature in the 20th century and the forerunner of postmodern literature.
