The fundament, types, technics methods and technology feature of rapid prototype technology have been briefly introduced. The RP technology which can be applied in a lot of areas such as the industry sculpting, machine manufacture, mould manufacture, medicine, aeronautics and astronautics, archeology and art are expounded in this paper, and the development direction of rapid prototype technology for the future is discussed.
