Examination of Xue Neng's Coming to Sichuan

薛能是晚唐著名诗人,作为剑南西川节度使李福的副将,他曾于唐懿宗咸通五年春夏之交入蜀,七年四月后为嘉州刺史,于咸通八年五六月之交的夏日返回长安,其入蜀和出蜀路线基本相同。薛能前后事蜀三年,在蜀中写了不少的诗歌。

Xue Neng, well-known poet of the late Tang Dynasty, comes to Sichuan as Jiannan Xichuan Officer Li Fu＇s deputy officer in Xiantong 5th Year, later as Jiazhou Cishi in Xiantong 7th Year, and returns to Chang＇an in the summer of Xiantong 8th Year, following the same route as he comes. Xue stays in Sichuan for 3 years, during which he writes many poems.
