The Influence of Iron and Titanium on the Whiteness of Kaolins

摘要 对高岭土的研究结果表明在晶格中存在结合铁,在晶格中结合铁的不显颜色效应,只有其中非晶格结合的铁,即含铁矿物导致高岭土的显色效应.本文采用新型高岭土漂白剂──乙二酸与五羟基已烯酸内酯的混合液来溶解所含铁矿物,使高岭土得到漂白,白度的增量与非晶格结合的铁含量之间呈线性关系.高岭上白度与其中含钛量同样呈线性关系. Comparative investigation of a number. of kaolin samples shows that the c1ay binds the iron in the crystal lattice. The iron bound in the c1ay 1at- tice has discolouring effect. Only the portion of iron which is not lattice-bound i. e. the iron minerals contained in the kaolin, leads to a colouring effect. A new type kaolin -bleaching agent. a mixture of oxalic and lactone of pentahydrox- yhexenoic acid, is used to dissolve the iron minerals, not lattice bound. in orde to bleach kaolin. A direct linear correlation between the content of not lattice bound iron is established. A relation between the .total titanium content of the kaolins and the whiteness can be found out too.
