Abzymes that behave like enzymes can be elicited immunization with a hapten. It has not only high selectivity as antibodies but also highly catalytic activities as enzymes. It opens the new area of catalyst research. This article summarizes the phylogeny, the mechanism, the manufacture methods, the applications and the research strategies of the abzyme.
