Based on literature and comparison, this paper elaborates on the formation, development and contents of Deng Xiaoping＇s intellectual thoughts, compares his thoughts before and after reform and opening up policy and analyses the reasons that Deng attached so much importance to intellectuals after the policy. nowadays when we advocate the spirit of 17^th CPC National Congress, its of practical importance to study Deng theories and practices concerning intellectual issue.
