Major Issues in the Study of Drama Translation

戏剧翻译是翻译研究中一个比较特殊的领域。戏剧翻译不仅要涉及两种语言符号系统之间的语际转换,还要涉及语言之外的其它许多因素。本文探讨了戏剧翻译研究中的一些主要问题。这些问题包括:戏剧翻译作品的性质、戏剧翻译的目的、戏剧翻译文本的特点、戏剧文化的转换和戏剧翻译者的地位等。

Drama translation, is a comparatively special area in translation studies. It involves not only the interlingual transfer of a given written text between two linguistic sign systems, but also other extralingustic elements. The present paper discusses some issues in the study of drama translation. The major issues include： the nature of translated drama, the aim of drama translation, the trait of translated playtext, the transfer of cultural content, as well as the status of the drama translator.
