摘要
模糊语言是一种语言概念,同时又是一种语言现象,它反映了客观事物在外延上的一种不确定性。在新闻报道中,很多人往往把这种不确定性与新闻的真实性和准确性对立起来。事实上,在新闻报道中适当运用模糊语言,具有十分重要的意义。本文首先讨论了模糊语言的构成特点;其次,笔者采用定量分析方法对2007年China Daily做了一个抽样统计,并以此为语料探讨了模糊语言在新闻报道中存在的原因及其语用功能,旨在说明模糊语言在新闻报道中的使用是不可避免的,只有使用得恰当、准确,才有助于提高新闻报道的质量。
As a lingnistic concept together with a linguistic phenomenon, vague language embodies the uncertainty of the language at its extension. However, such uncertainty is often set against the authenticity and accuracy of the news. In fact, it is of great significance to use vague language appropriately in the news reporting. This paper firstly discusses the structure of vague language. Then, based on quantitative analysis of the cases selected from China Daily of 2007, the author explores the reasons why vague language exists in news reporting and its pragmatic functions. The aim of this paper is to illustrate that the usage of vague language in news is unavoidable and its appropriate and accurate use can help to improve the quality of news reporting.
