the present paper analyzes the physical as well as spiritual journey of the protagonist in Henderson the Rain King in Africa--the symbolic feminine region for the white explorers, explaining how Henderson breaks through the traditional gender pattern through his experiences in two African tribes and his meditation on the significance of life and death, finally accepts the strange gender within himself and accomplishes the integrity of personality and spiritual rebirth.
