Defending Loneliness:the Necessary Competence of a Scholar——Enlightment from Loneliness Concept of German Classic University

寂寞是德国古典大学观的重要组成部分。在西方学术史上,寂寞与学者具有千丝万缕的联系;在我国,寂寞与学者的联系甚疏。学者的使命决定了寂寞是其本真的生活方式之一。当今纷扰的社会环境与异化的科研环境,使学者守护寂寞遭遇到了严峻的挑战。学者心存大志,心无旁骛,追求深刻;社会提供一种民主的氛围和良好的生活条件;大学内部构建一种清幽淡雅的学术环境是学者守护寂寞三个必须的条件。

Loneliness is an important component in German classic university. In western academic history, there are countless ties between loneliness and scholars, while scholars are somewhat distant from loneliness in China. Actually scholars are destined to defend loneliness, which is part of their life. But scholars are now meeting the stern challenge in keeping with loneliness because of the confused social life and the dissimilated scientific research environment in colleges. Defending loneliness demands that scholars be ambitious, seek for nothing but truth, and be after profoundness. And it requires that the society provide lenient political atmosphere and satisfactory living conditions for scholars. Furthermore, the colleges should create a quite and elegant atmosphere for them.
