中国三、四十年代流行音乐是中国流行音乐发展史上曾经的辉煌,但是,也正是在那个特殊年代,受到了来自社会主流音乐批评观念的强烈排斥,这与时代发展的特殊性有直接的因果关系。但是抛开时代的因素,对三、四十年代的流行音乐进行具体客观的分析,它并不都是"黄色音乐",歌曲的题材是多样的,具有与都市文明和民俗相契合的各类主要特征,具有一定的艺术价值。

The Chinese pop music in the 1930s and 1940s once experienced a glorious time in the history of pop music development in China. But just at that special time, it was intensely excluded by the critical thought of the mainstream music of the society. This was directly related with the particularity of the development of the time. However, leaving out time factor, let＇ s have an objective analysis on the pop music in the 30s and 40s and we can see that not all of them were ＂vulgar music＂. The subjects of the music are various with different characteristics which agree with the metropolitan culture and folk - custom. It is of certain artistic value.
