The Comparison of Worrying Mentality——by Comparing and Analyzing the Characteristics of the Main Characters in Timon of Athens and Le Misanthrope

一部作品情节的发展、主题的深化是由人物的参与而构成的。泰门、阿尔塞斯特作为两部作品的主人公,在情节的发展中表现出了恨世、厌世情绪和忧患意识。本文以《雅典的泰门》《恨世者》为例,从人性和心理学角度分析二位主人公的性格特点,阐释二人忧患意识的阶梯发展情况及不同表征。

In a literary work, the development of plot and the deepening of the theme are involved with the participation of the characters. As the main characters,Timon and Alceste show us their hatred and pessimism of the world,even their worrying mentality. Taking Timon of Athens and Le Misanthrope as examples ,this paper will analyze the characteristics of the two characters from the angle of human nature and psychology ,thus explaining how their worrying mentality develops in a ladder-style way and their different charac-terization.
