In Taiwan, both the ruling and opposition parties are haggling over CECA, which will likely become a bone of ideological contention. This paper points out development prospects for the negotiating and signing of Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits by the analysis of the background for proposing CECA, its rationality and legitimacy as well as why it is rejected and opposed by Taiwan＇s opposition forces
