Mongolian Directions and their Influence on the Documents in the Qing Dynasty

蒙古地区的区位方向问题同我国古代北方民族历史地理、民俗文化有密切的联系。该地区的区位方向观念与现代实测经纬方向相差45°左右,这一方位观念对清代据此绘制的《蒙古游牧图》及以《蒙古游牧图》资料为据所撰写的历代边疆史地文献影响很大。

The issue of Mongolian directions is closely related to history, geography, and folk culture of ethnic minorities in northern China. As there is a difference of approximate 45°between Mongolian directions and those of latitude and longitude, therefore, Mongolian directions have a great influence both on Mongolian nomadic maps drawn based on themselves and frontier historical and geographical documents through the ages, which are composed according to the maps above and other materials.
