The Humanistic Spirit of Huxiang Culture

湖湘文化的人文精神发自湖湘,却留下了世界文化遗产。湖湘文化的人文精神可剖析为五个分支,分别是:屈原精神、谭嗣同精神、丁玲精神、沈从文精神、齐白石精神,它们是湖湘文化中人文精神的最重要的组成部分和杰出代表。这些人文精神虽无形,却是物质的根和本,是更为持久的珍贵遗产,它们属于全中国,也属于全世界,是人类的宝贵财富。

The humanistic spirit of Huxiang culture emanates from Huxiang and yet it has remained as a cultural heritage of the world. This spirit breaks down into five branches embodied respectively in Qu Yuan, Tan Sitong, Ding Ling, Shen Congwen, and Qi Baishi. These branches are the most important components and the most outstanding representations of the humanistic spirit of Huxiang culture. Though intangible, they are the roots of substance and a lasting treasured heritage that belongs to both China and the world; they are the wealth of human being.
