100多年前，帕汤半岛上的实兑（Sittwe）还只是个小渔村，位于缅甸联邦西部沿海加拉丹河口，濒临印度洋孟加拉湾的东北侧，南面是海上咽喉要冲马六甲海I峡。由于地理位置重要，这里如今发展成为了缅甸西部最大的深水港口，20万吨的油轮可自由进出。
