An Introduction to the Democratic Subject——on the ultimate relationship between man and democratization and its enlightenment

历史表明,无论是民主观念、民主思想、民主理论等观念层面的民主的源生、创造和传承,还是各种民主制度、民主程序等制度层面的民主的创设、发展和完善,抑或是民主政治本身的运行,都离不开民主主体的终极决定作用。一言蔽之,民主政治取决于民主主体。为此,中国要发展社会主义民主政治,就必须首先塑造民主主体。否则,社会主义民主政治将难以最终实现。

History shows that not only democratic ideas and theories but also the systems of democracy and democratic mechanism are created, expanded and completed by democratic subject. In other words, democratization depends fundamentally on democratic subject.This means that China has firstly to shape citizens with democratic qualities if China wants to realize the socialist democracy. Otherwise the socialist democracy will not be really established in China.
