摘要
基于汉语公示语的语言特点,其主要功能是信息功能和感召功能,所以公示语在使用中所体现的语用信息是公示语汉英翻译中的决定性因素。指出由于东西方语言文化的巨大差异,在翻译一些有中国特色的公示语时,很难做到完全忠实,所以译者应跳出原文语义之形,在语用对等的层面上进行创译,使译本简明、得体而有感染力。
Considering the linguistic characteristics of Chinese public signs, whose main fuctions are informative and vocative. As a result, accuracy in the translation of Chinese public signs mianly lies in the effective transmission of its pragmatic meaning. This paper argues that the translation of Chinese public signs with Chinese characteristics should take the linguistic and cultural differences between English and Chinese into consideration and at the same time not be confined by the language form of the original version. The author attempts to explain, from the angle of pragmatic equivalence, three basic strategies, namely, clarity and economy, politeness and aesthetics in the translation of Chinese public signs with Chi- nese characteristics.
