Musical Aesthetic Thinking of Music Has Nothing to Do with Sorrow and Happiness

《声无哀乐论》在我国古代音乐美学思想史上,有着非常重要的价值和意义。嵇康提出了"声无哀乐"、音乐"自律"等美学观点。他认为音乐是客观存在的,与人的主观情感无关,不能表现感情也不能唤起人相应的感情,是独立的存在,不会为人的意志而转移。同时,他也肯定了音乐移风易俗、娱乐和养生的作用,但是否定了音乐的道德教化作用。

Music Has Nothing to Do with Sorrow and Happiness is of great value and significance in the history of Chinese ancient musical aesthetic thinking. In his works,Ji Kang proposed some aesthetic ideas, such as the idea that music had nothing to do with sorrow and happiness and that music had some fixed principles and characteristics on its own. He held the opinion that music existed objectively,which has nothing to do with people＇s subjective emotions. Music could not present emotions or arouse people＇s corresponding emotions. It is an objective existence independent of man＇s will. At the same time,Ji Kang affirmed the musical functions in amusement,and health preserving,but negated music played a role in moral enlightenment.
