On the Limitations of Research into the Annotation and Punctutation of Academic History

到目前为止,学界多视"评点"为一种文学批评手法,而从评点学发展的实际来看,评点不仅是一种文学批评,它还涉及经学、史学等诸方面的内容。仅仅视之为文学批评,实际上窄化了评点的内涵,限制了对评点的全面研究。评点本质是对文本的一种阅读诠释,表现了批评者对于文本的独特理解。就形式而言,此种批评须是评、点与文本的结合,脱离文本的批评不是评点。就内容来说,则有别于传统注疏,而是致力于对文本义理、文法等各方面的揭示。

Up till now, the academia usually take the Annotation and Punctutation as a method of literary critique. But from its course of development, we can see that Annotation and Punctutation is not only a literary cri- tique method, but also relates to classicism and historiography, etc. If we only look at it as a literary critique, it will lessen the scopes of Annotation and Punctutation, and will limit its comprehensive study. Annotation and Punc- tutation expresses the special opinion of the critics, and its essence is an expression of the text. Annotation and Punctutation must adhere to the text in form, and emphasizes both grammar and meaning, which is different from the traditional annotation.
