摘要 蔡基刚教授作为我国大学英语教学改革的见证人和实践者之一,由他撰写的《大学英语教学:回顾、反思和研究》一书,以丰富的史料、求实的精神、客观的评述,真实详细的介绍和记述了从2001年到2005年这场大学英语教学改革历程,并对改革中争议的问题,以及自1985年制定的第一个英语教学大纲以来的一些重大问题进行了回顾和反思。在深入广泛调查的基础上,作者运用国内外外语教学的最新理论成果,对我国大学英语政策、教学目标、课程设置、教学模式,特别是大学英语四、六级考试存在的诸多问题进行了客观的分析和评述,为大学英语教学改革和实践提供了丰富的理论依据,是一本值得广大英语教学工作者学习和借鉴的好书。 Professor Cai Ji-gang is one of the witnesses and practisers of College English Teaching (CET) reform.The book, ELT at Tertiary Level in China: Review,Reflection and Reseach written by him, objetively and detailedly introduces and records the course of CET reform with plenty of historical materials, pragmatic approaches and objective comments from 2001 to 2005. And this book looks back on and reflects certain controversial problems in the reform and some major ones in the Firt English Syllabus since 1985. On the basis of widespread and profound investigations, the author applies the lat- est achievements in the theory of foreign language teaching at home and abroad, and makes objective analysis and re- marks on some important problems which are presented in the English policy, the teaching objective, course arrangement, teaching model, especially in CET-4 and CET-6 etc. The author offers appropriate suggestions for improvement and pro- vides us plentiful theorical basis for the reform and practice of College English. It is well worth studying and using as reference for English teachers.
