印度杰出政治家甘地在长期的新闻实践中,形成了自己的新闻思想。甘地倡导新闻自由,维护报刊的政治独立,反对政府的新闻控制。他彻底排斥商业广告,以维护报刊的经济独立,并主张报刊自律。甘地认为新闻写作要客观、通俗,报刊要依靠读者并为读者服务。甘地新闻思想的渊源是其宗教思想和政治思想。

As a famous Indian politician, Gandhi had ever published six kinds of newspapers and periodicals and even wrote for them by himself. During those days, he raised his own thoughts about the press. He advocated freedom of the press, against the control of the press from the government, against advertisements. He thought the article on the press should be written simply and editors should offer services for their readers. Gandhi＇s thoughts of the press derived from his thoughts of religion and politics.
