张竹坡对《金瓶梅》的评点,把古典小说美学理论向前推进了一步,他继承并发展了汉代"发愤著书"的学说,认为《金瓶梅》是一部泄愤之作。从创作的原动力是渊源于作者在现实生活中的强烈感受"愤",这种感受化为不得不发的激情"泄",到如何"泄",即艺术表达方式要用"史公文字",批判整个社会黑暗与人伦道德。他深刻总结了市井小说的创作经验,形成自己独特的小说美学观。

That is to say, the artistic expression style needs to use "Shigong writing style" that criticizes the darkness of the whole society and the moral of human relations (according to feudal ethics).Basing on profoundly summarizing the writing experience of the Civic Novels, he creates his own unique aesthetic view of novels.
