Textual Appraisal Meaning and it's Translation——A Case Study on B. Obama’s Victory Speech

评价是系统功能语言学中人际功能的一部分,由态度、介入和级差三方面组成,阐明说话者对事物的态度。文章尝试运用评价理论作分析研究的工具,对奥巴马的一篇竞选演说词及其两个中译文进行描述、比较和分析,探讨如何解决态度系统的显性评价和级差系统的隐性评价的翻译问题。

Appraisal is a part of the interpersonal metafunction in Systemic Functional Linguistics. Consisting of three parts, namely Attitude, Engagement and Graduation, it can reflect the speaker＇s attitude and positioning. This paper attempts to use the Appraisal theory as a tool to describe and compare the two Chinese translations of Obama＇s victory speech. A discussion is carried out to solve the problems appearing in translating the speech＇s textual appraisal meanings.
