明代传奇作家张凤翼的《红拂记》与《灌园记》在晚明非常流行,但因其对题材和作品结构处理不当,导致情节芜漫。冯梦龙重编了二剧,更名为《女丈夫》《新灌园》,不仅删去芜漫的情节,且突出了礼教思想。

The romantic dramas （Hongfu Ji and Guanyuan Ji） created by Zhang Fengyi were popular in Ming Dynasty. However, the plots were disarray, because Zhang deranged the stuff and construction in dramas. Feng Menglong re-edited two dramas as Nv Zhangfu and Xin Guanyuan, in which the disordered plots were obliterated and the themes were unified.
