Hu Yanhuai＇s novel ＂ The Hole Fire＂ explores the human nature in depth through the story of treasure hunt in an ancient mine. This paper discusses the complex and unclear manifestation and reflection of human nature in the story by Hu Yanhuai from the perspectives of the narrative structure and content of the treasure hunt legend and the first -person narrative ＂I＂ about the individual survival experience. It also analyzes the historical and practical significance of the narrative.
