于鬯《香草校书》校《国语》札记

Notes on the Collating of Guoyu in Yu Chang’s Xiangcao Collations

于鬯谙熟古代典籍及典章制度,于文法结构也颇有心得,所著《香草校书》校释《国语》常能引据古礼,验劾文法,佐证异文,洞察隐微,创发新解。然又好标新异,时有求之过深反成穿凿者。

Yu Chang is very familiar with ancient classics and institutions. Yu is also well-versed in related grammatical constructions. He often cites ancient rituals, examines grammar, testifies bizarre texts, detect nuances and puts forward new ideas in his collating of Guoyu in Xiangcao Collations. However, he crosses the board for novelty, and too much probing sometimes goes by the board.
