双语句法表征--来自汉英不平衡双语者句法启动的证据

Bilingual syntactic representation:Evidence from syntactic priming of Chinese-English unbalanced bilinguals

双语句法表征研究表明,双语句法表征是共享的。也有人认为,二语句法最初为独立表征,后来逐渐发展到与一语句法共享表征。本文通过跨语言句法启动实验,研究汉英不平衡双语者的双语句法表征。结果表明,除汉英被动句启动实验外,其它实验均未出现启动效应。本文作者认为,汉英不平衡双语者两种语言的句法表征不是完全共享的,而是部分共享的。另外,不平衡双语者的二语句法表征在向与一语句法表征共享的发展过程中,存在一语占支配地位的中间阶段。

Studies investigating bilingual syntactic representations demonstrate that bilingual syntactic representations are shared. However, some researchers argue that the L2 syntactic representation is initially independently represented and gradually integrates into the L1 syntactic representation. To clarify this issue, cross-linguistic experiments were conducted to explore the bilingual syntactic representations of Chinese-English unbalanced bilinguals. Results showed no cross-linguistic syntactic priming effect except for the Chinese-English passive syntactic priming experiment, suggesting that the bilingual syntactic representations of Chinese-English unbalanced bilinguals are not fully shared, but partially integrated. It is also suggested that as unbalanced bilinguals’ L2 syntactic representation develops and integrates into the L1 syntactic representation, there exists an interim phase in which L1 processing dominates that of L2.
