劳伦斯代表作《儿子与情人》被很多评论家所关注。有的从女权主义方面加以论述,有的以恋母情结为基石来阐述工业文明给自然环境带来的破坏,更有一些女性主义文学批评家认为作者利用女性实现男性自我。如果以弗洛伊德三重人格学说为纽带,以保罗与母亲、克莱拉和米立安之间的关系为基础分析,可以看出保罗非但没有利用女性,反而是被其母亲与克莱拉所操纵,并最终毁于她们手中。

Sons and Lovers, the masterpiece of D. H. Laurence, is the focus of many critics＇ attention. Some critics analyzed it from the perspective of feminism; some took the “Odepus Complex” as the basis to illustrate how the Nature was destroyed because of the development of Industry Civilization; some feminist critics even thought that Laurence took advantage of female to serve male. The author, in this article, will emphasize the theme from an entirely new perspective, that is, taking Freud＇s three basic personality structure theory as the tie, the relationship among Paul, his mother and Clara as the basis to illustrate that Paul, instead of taking advantage of the two women, was controlled and destroyed by them.
