摘要
本文选取功能语言学视角,重点讨论英语名词词组和限定动词产生的歧义。本文举例说明了形容词作前置限定词产生的歧义以及V-ing形式作前置限定词产生的歧义;将限定动词产生的歧义按照主动语态和被动语态的句法结构进行分析。这其中包括不及物动词简单结构所产生的歧义和及物动词的复杂句法结构产生的歧义。研究显示系统功能语法对于消除英语句法结构所产生的歧义具有一定的优势,掌握这方面的知识将有助于英语教学。
Recent years have seen rapid development of the study of English ambiguity, however most of the studies follow the formal tradition. This paper adopts a functional linguistic perspective and takes Hallidayan systemic-functional grammar as the theoretical framework to tentatively analyze English structural ambiguities. There are two parts in the paper dealing with the ambiguities existing in nominal groups and finite verbs respectively. This study demonstrates that systemic functional grammar has some advantages in accounting for the English structural ambiguity.
