Analysis on Factors Affecting the Olympic Medal Count

根据文献资料法,以第28和29届夏季奥运会获得奖牌的国家或地区作为样本,本文研究了国家经济实力、人口数量、体育实力、政治稳定因素、社会发展程度、国家体制和东道主效应等七个因素对获得奥运奖牌数的影响。多元回归分析结果表明:一个国家的经济实力、政治稳定因素及体育实力对奥运成绩有显著正向影响,东道主效应和社会主义制度将促进国家在奥运会上取得更好的成绩,而人口因素、社会发展程度的影响不显著。

Based on the data of the 28th and 29th Olympic Games, this paper summanzes ana anatyzes seven factors that affect the Olympics medal count. The factors are as follows： economic strength, population, sports strength, political stability, and the level of social development, national institution and the effects of hosting for Olympic Games. The results of linear multiple regression models indicate that first, economic strength, political stability and sports strength have significant positive correlations with Olympic results; second, the socialist system and the effects of hosting would contribute to the results as well; third, population and the level of social development have no remarkable impact
