This paper describes the dialogue and action between the anthropologist and residents in a village of Choshe Deba, located in Amdo, the northeastern part of the Tibetan plateau. Since 2004 the anthropologist and the villagers have been working closely to organize more than three unique festivals called the Choshe Deba Village Games. The purpose is to preserve and revive the local traditions which include ancient sporting games, music and dances unique to Tibetan culture. Taking the village games as a case study, this paper analyses the relationship between folk-memory and intangible cultural heritage. The author suggest the protection and inheritance of the intangible requires combining the folk-memory, commemorative ceremonies and physical practices. We consider that folk-culture is a significant component toward the building of a so-called prosperous and harmonious society in minority areas.
