Discussion on the Collateral Disease Doctrine

约略回顾几千年来络病理论的演进脉络，探讨络脉病证的病因病机，并试从西医学角度阐明络病的病理生理学基础，以期更深刻地理解络病学说，充分认识其理论意义及临床实用价值，进一步提高中医治疗多种疑难病症的临床疗效。

This paper briefly retrospects the course of evolution of the collateral disease doctrine (CDD) in the past several thousands of years, discusses the causes and pathogenesis of collateral diseases, and tries to explain the pathological and physiological bases of the diseases from the angle of Western medicine, in order to more deeply understand the CDD, fully comprehend its significance in both theory and clinical practice and to further enhance TCM clinical efficacy in treating difficult and complicated cases of diseases.
