Nuclear DNA contents of major categories of the plant kingdom, relationship between nuclear DNA content and cell characteristics, genome size variation within species, influences of environmental factors on nuclear DNA amount, and evolutional and ecological importances of the variation in nuclear DNA amount were reviewed in this paper.
